Lunar Eclipse

In case of rain, clouds or fog will not darken the sky of midnight Monday night, a spectacular total lunar eclipse will be well worth staying up for longer to see - in the Bay Area and across the country.
Lunar eclipses are not rare, but it is the moon high in the sky, it should be easily observable in the world, "Andrew Fraknoi, chairman of astronomy at Foothill College, said in Los Altos Hills.
"This event is very democratic," he said, "because you do not need a telescope or other expensive equipment to enjoy sophisticated entertainment -. Only the eyes, or if you have a pair of twins"
The moon is always full during a solar eclipse, and for astronomers, this is really at the beginning of 9.55 clock Monday, when the full moon enters the shadow of the pale rim of the Earth, called the penumbra. The scheme is so small that they can be observed by ordinary people.
Called clock to 22:33, at the edge of the moon moves through the inner shadow of the Earth, the shadow, and during that time partial eclipse will observers see the Earth's shadow creeps slowly across the bright lunar surface. A closer look shows that the edge of the shadow is actually curved, which showed for the ancient Greeks, that observers on Earth is done all year.
11:41 to eclipse the total lunar eclipse when the moon has moved completely into the Earth's shadow. This view is spectacular: the refraction of sunlight through the atmosphere color of the surface of the moon, unpredictable, and over the past eclipses, appeared a bronze or deep blood red or dark yellow.
The movement ends at 0:53 on Tuesday and last partial eclipse ends at 02:01 clock
Two institutions in the Bay Area have announced public events for the Eclipse.
00 hours for your pleasure at midnight, rain or shine: Space and Science Center in Oakland Chabot open 21 hours-2. When the sky is clear, visitors can observe from the observatory deck and through their large telescopes solar eclipse. A simulation of the eclipse will be seen in the Chabot Planetarium, and astronomers will explain the event for the visitors.
The Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley open 20 hours-2: 00 clock and offers a planetarium show, telescope and explanations of amateur astronomers and Veterans eclipse.
