National University

I’m a local university student and 2nd generation Singaporean Indian. I was short-changed by a prestigious local university, a.k.a NUS, when I applied to help them conduct a school event.
Apparently our pay was reduced because they deducted food and accommodation expenses from the three-day camp event. IS THIS FAIR? FOREIGNERS WORKING HERE GET MONTHLY HOUSING ALLOWANCE? I was not told that food expenses would be deducted from our pay and I did not stay on campus for the event but I was subject to having accommodation expenses deducted from my pay.
It was earlier agreed that we would be paid on an hourly rate of $8.52 and I calculated I should earn at least $400 but now I’m told its only $250. This is call cheating!
I don’t mind if I don’t get my $400 but I want to alert people that such corrupt practices do occur in even so-called, prestigious organizations. It is a very shameful act for a supposedly world-class university.
