Frigid

A new batch of life guards is training to save lives on Hayden Lake this summer.
But the group will have to deal with more than cramp victims and learning CPR.
Cold water is also creating potential threats to safety. The lake’s water temperature is in the low 50’s, requiring lifeguard trainees to wear wet suits—in June!
“It is definitely cold. I would not advise people to swim there if they are weak hearted,” said lifeguard Josh Clark.
The trainees are learning signs that the water is too cold. Shivering or blue coloring around the lips are signs it is time to get out of the water.
