As much as we poke fun at the "Teen Moms" in the media, we are sad to report that Amber Portwood allegedly attempted to end her own life on Tuesday morning (June 14).
Portwood, who is best known for several domestic disputes involving former fiance and babydaddy Gary Shirley, is reportedly being evaluated at St. Johns Hospital in Anderson, Indiana after being removed from her home by authorities. Though Star reports that the anonymous caller was Shirley's mother, police confirm only that the call was placed by "a relative" at a different location.
According to a police statement obtained by Radar Online: "Late this morning (11:34 a.m.), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Pleasant Meadow Drive. According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L. Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life. The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation."
Shirley, who earlier tweeted "Wishing everyone the best of days today," took to the microblogging site to shed just a little bit of light on the situation.
"Never cheated on Amber," he posted. "She may have thought I did, but haven't. I will always love and respect her even if we aren't together." Adding, "Due to recent events, it was best that Amber delete her Twitter.. Appreciate all those who continue to support."
Though no details have been confirmed, Portwoodallegedly overdosed on a "cocktail of pills." Star recounts the dramatic scene as supposedly relayed by an inside source: "Two policeman arrived, found her face-up on the couch and immediately called for an ambulance. When two EMT workers arrived, they removed the rope that Amber had loosely knotted around her neck. They tried speaking with her, but she was in and out of consciousness and couldn't respond; she was just moaning. They gave her an oxygen mask, put her on a gurney, and rushed her to the hospital."
Whatever went down this morning, we just hope daughter Leah was not on hand for any of the events.
