The Taipei zoo will receive three Rhino Iguanas -- an endangered species of lizard -- from the Singapore Zoo. However, it did not release information on the date of their arrival.
These Rhino Iguanas are rated as among the first-class endangered species under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) , Taipei Zoo Director Jason Yeh said.
Taipei City Zoo will also get three Burmese Mountain Tortoises from Singapore.
In return, Taipei will send a total of 10 tortoises to Singapore, including four Elongated Tortoises, four Red-footed Tortoises and two Yellow-footed Tortoises. These tortoises, which are classified as second-class rare species under CITES, arrived in Singapore on May 27, Yeh said.
The animal exchange is part of a cooperation program between the two zoos on animal conservation and reproduction, he said.
