PGA Tour

During the week of the Heritage, a number of players and others came up to tournament director Steve Wilmot to congratulate him on finding a new title sponsor for his event in RBC. Wilmot denied that he had a deal with the Canadian bank, who also sponsors the Canadian Open on the PGA Tour.
Wilmot’s denials have some plausibility considering that the tournament will announce its new title sponsor on Thursday at 1pm ET – of U.S. Open week. That sponsor, though, is the one rumored all along.
RBC will become the title sponsor of the Heritage.
According to Bob Weeks of Score Golf, the tournament date will be restored to the week after the Masters and will be renamed the RBC Heritage Classic. RBC replaces Verizon as title sponsor of the event, who let their deal with the event expire after the 2010 playing of the 42-year-old PGA Tour stop.
