Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences ( SGPGIMS) celebrated theWorld Environment Day here on Sunday by planting saplings. On the occasion, saplings of neem, mango, bel, awla, chitwan etc were planted, in the sports complex of the institute.

Hosts of faculty, officers and staff of the institute were present on the occasion and each planted the sapling taking oath that they will make every effort to save the environment.

Participating and leading the program, director of the Institute Prof RK Sharma said that the environment plays a very vital role in the good health of human beings and trees play an important part in keeping the environment balanced and planet friendly.

We have been regularly following this activity in our campus, he said. Around 500 saplings of above mentioned trees were planted in sports complex and new campus of SGPGI.
