Ministry Of Manpower

Ministry Of Manpower
The Manpower and Transmigration Ministry will allocate Rp 100 billion (US$11.6 million) to finance the operations of the soon-to-be-formed taskforce responsible for saving Indonesian migrant workers from death sentences.

“There will also be funds from the Foreign and Law and Human Rights ministries; they will retrieve the funds from budget savings that they've made. Rp 100 billion will be from the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry,” Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar said Monday in Jakarta.

The plan to form the taskforce was announced last week by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, after a nationwide outcry following the beheading of Indonesian maid Rubiyati binti Satubi by the Saudi authorities, after she had been found guilty of murdering her Saudi employer.

The taskforce will include officials from the three ministries, and from the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI).

Muhaimin said the President would soon issue a decree regarding the establishment of the taskforce.

“We will complete today the naming of those [who will run the taskforce],” the minister said as quoted bytempointeraktif.com.

He added the taskforce would focus on advocacy and diplomacy in executing its duty.
