After bringing nearly two dozen quirky Red Line stories to life, director Thomas Murray is moving onto the Brown Line. The second installment of "El Stories," dramatic re-enactments of real-life train encounters, begins its run July 15, Murray announced Tuesday.
The play will feature more than 25 Brown Line stories derived from hours of interviews with CTA riders, Murray said.
In February, Murray released his first installment of "El Stories," featuring the Red Line. Stories ranged from a rider encountering a homeless man who defecates on the tracks to a rider who sits near a woman who cleans her makeup brush on the train seat.
Murray told Going Public in February the idea for the play came to him two years ago, when he was hanging out with friends and a pal mentioned a crazy train ride.
"There are so many of these stories," said Murray, of Edgewater. "I just knew it was fertile soil."
Performances run Fridays and Saturdays from July 15-August 13 at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N Lincoln Ave., at 10:30 p.m.
