A BURGLAR who has plagued Aylesbury has been sentenced to four years behind bars for a string of crimes.
Anthony Wilson, aged 19, of Buckingham Road, pleaded guilty to burglary after he was identified on CCTV selling stolen goods.
Wilson admitted breaking into houses in Fleet Street, Hereford Way and Meadowcroft during April and May.
Having broken in he then stole a number of items including a games console, a laptop and a selection of DVDs.
Police officers were able to identify Wilson through forensic evidence and using CCTV footage which showed Wilson attempting to sell the stolen property.
He was sent to prison for four years at Aylesbury Crown Court on May 24.
Neighbourhood inspector Omar Abu-Rish said “This is an example of some great investigative work by our local investigation department.
“The lengthy sentence passed by the crown court reflects the gravity of entering a person’s home while committing crime, this has been a distressing experience for the residents concerned.”
“Overall we have had a 32 per cent reduction in house burglaries so far this year.
“This is on top of our strong reductions last year so our message is still the same – Aylesbury Vale is still one of the safest areas to live and work in the region and we will continue to bring to justice those who commit crime in our town.”
