AIEEE Seat Allotment 2011

AIEEE Seat Allotment 2011
The moment of reckoning for 2.12 lakh students, who have registered themselves foronline counselling for AIEEE 2011conducted by National Institute of Technology Karnataka headquartered Central Counselling Board (CCB) AIEEE 2011, is minutes away. With the process of locking of choices ending at 5pm on June 23, the CCB is all set to announce the first round of allotment to engineering/ architecture stream, latest by 10am on Saturday.

When the deadline for locking of choices ended, a total of 2,12,616 candidates had registered online. These include 1,69,384 male candidates and 43,232 women candidates. Students in the open category accounted for 1,12,010 candidates followed by 54,841 candidates in OBC category, 33,399 SCs, 12,366 STs, and 1,458 physically handicapped students. The total number of choices filled by these candidates across institutions and branches was 1.44 crore.

Candidates from Karnataka too were not far behind with 4,344 students registering in the online counselling process. These included 2,618 in open category, 911 OBC, 556 SCs, 259 STs, and 22 physically handicapped. In all, 3,222 boys, and 1,122 girls from Karnataka registered online. If one takes the case of NITK, a total of 740 seats across branches are available and 50% of these seats are for students from the state, CCB coordinator G Srinikethan told TOI here.

These 2.12 lakh students are vying for 18,411 seats available in 30 NITs, 5 IIITs, and 13 centrally, and state funded institutions for which the initial rounds of seat allotment will be conducted. This means that one in every 11.5 student who has registered online seeking a seat would get admitted. The competition for admission in OBC and SC is the toughest with one student out of every 12.2 registered getting a seat, 11.6 in case of open and 8.1 in case of STs.

Srinikethan noted that students would start getting SMS alerts once their seat allotment is done. They would have to log in to CCB website using their login and password and check for seat allotted. The link for fee payment either through e-challan or electronic payment gateway too would be activated once the seat allotment has been announced, he said, adding students need to approach their nearest reporting centres which would set in motion their admission process.
