GINA CARANO, the American model and martial arts fighter, looks set to become Hollywood's latest female action star, following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Uma Thurman. Carano will fight crime on the big-screen when she stars in Steven Soderbergh's new thriller 'Haywire'.
The fighter, best known as a mixed martial arts champion, plays a secret service operative seeking revenge on her betrayers in the highly-anticipated new movie. Her co-star Channing Tatum is convinced by Gina's Hollywood potential, telling Fox News, "You are going to get some really satisfying girl on dude whoop-ass, just straight up whoop-ass. In our society we're used to seeing guys beat up other dudes but this is so satisfying for me to see just a beautiful woman beat the s**t out of many so guys" Gina said she embraced every moment of working with the likes of Ewan Mcgregor and Michael Douglas, saying, "It was such an experience, and then learning a lot about the acting world. I have so much respect for what they do now, it's not that easy". 'Haywire', filmed on a budget of $25 million, is scheduled for release in January 2012.
Carano's mixed martial arts record currently stands at eight fights, with seven wins, three by knockout, and only one defeat.
