General Motors India President and Managing Director Karl Slym today launched Chevrolet Beat’s diesel version in Ahmedabad. The brand new Beat diesel’s sports 1.0 XSDE engine has been developed special for India by Banglore based GM technical centre in collaboration with GM power-strain Europe, Karl Slym said while addressing the media persons.
Slym said Beat diesel’s three-cylinder DOHC engine is equipped with modern common rail fuel injection technology that provides better efficiency of engine. “Electrically controlled throttle body helps in decreasing carbon emission,” he added.
Engine’s fixed geometry turbocharger vacuum includes vacuum operated wastage.An engine with advance insta-torque boost(AIB) provides more torque at the time of overtaking. Even with high efficiency the engine’s power per liter(63.5 ps/l) and per liter torque(160.3 nm/l) is highest in Indian diesel mini hatchback segment.
Adding to this the engine provides great performance in heavy traffic areas. The engine has advanced technology maintenance free timing chain drive system and anti corrosion protection. Engine oil needs to be changed only at every 15,000 km or after 1.5 year.
Beat diesel’s smartech engine has high torque transmission with the help of which changing of gear becomes more comfortable and easier. Hydraulic clutch of this car activates with minimum effort. Smart engine and clutch protection mode increase fuel efficiency.
Pro-vario assist featherlight electronic power steering(EPS) works as power steering even when car’s speed is very low. Beat diesel’s gas charged rebound tuned suspension provides best performance without compromise. The intelligent launch support system(ILSS) makes it easy to drive a car on slope.
60% body of Beat diesel is made out of galvanized steel. The car offers three years/100,000 km engine and vehicle warranty.
