General Motors India today, has just launched the much anticipated diesel hatchback, the Chevrolet Beat Diesel. The launch, which happened at the Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai marks General Motors India’s first diesel hatchback in the country. The Chevrolet Beat Diesel Hatchback’s main selling point was expected to be it’s high fuel economy and the low initial purchase price and the Beat Diesel seems to have arrived with an OK pricing, on first impressions.
The Chevrolet Beat Diesel Hatchback has been priced at INR 4.29 Lakhs for the entry level PS model, which three more variants, the LS, the LT and the LT ABS-Alloy Wheels variants come in at higher price points of INR 4.59, 4.99 and 5.45 Lakhs respectively, all prices being ex-showroom Delhi. The Chevrolet Beat Diesel features a 936cc, turbo charged common rail diesel engine that produces a peak power of 57 Bhp and a peak torque of 150 Nm,both figures being the least in the class.
Where the Beat Diesel excels at, however is the high fuel economy number of an ARAI certified 24 KMPL and excellent driveability on city streets. The Chevrolet Beat Diesel Hatchback will come with a 3 years, 1,00,000 Kilometer engine warranty. The “Chevrolet Promise” subsidized maintenance package of of 3 years/45,000 Kms maintenance will be applicable on the Chevrolet Beat Diesel Hatchback as well.
