The Art of Living (AOL) will celebrate its 30th anniversary in Berlin with the World Culture Festival on the July 2 and 3. More than 70,000 people from 151 countries are expected to congregate to 'celebrate diversity and enrich life'. In a statement issued, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, spiritual leader and founder of AOL, said, "Thirty years of The Art of Living - a milestone has been achieved. We are inspired to continue with even more enthusiasm and greater speed to realise the dream, where life becomes a celebration and the world will become one family.
Millions of volunteers have worked with so much love and enthusiasm. They will continue inspiring millions more, in all the areas that we have not yet reached, and dry the tears that are still be-ing shed. The World Culture Festival is a celebration of achievements and a vision to do even more good."The festival is being held at Berlin's Olympic stadium, the Olympiastadion. The reception committee of the festival is headed by Ruud Lubbers, former prime minister of the Netherlands, co-founder of the EarthCharter Initiative. The event will be attended by members of parliament and several past presidents and prime ministers from various countries across the globe. Some of the dignitaries, who would be present at the festival, include, Danny Davis, US Congressman, Jens Ackermann, member of the German parliament. Jaber Mohammed Abbas, deputy minister for culture,Iraq, Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, minister of culture and information, Afghanistan, Anatoly Safonov, deputy minister of foreign affairs, Russia, Abul Kalam Azad, minister of culture and information, Bangladesh and Vytautas Landsbergis, former prime minister of Lithuania.
The highlights of the festival will be a grand guitar ensemble with 2,000 guitarists, 30 pianos, and a choir performance with 3,000 singers. Four pavilions will showcase the cultural heritage of Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Americas and Europe. There will also be a unique presentation by yoga teachers and practitioners of various ages and yoga schools that will perform the musically choreographed surya namaskar.
