WWE Extreme Rules 2011 Results

The final hour of WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view on May 1, 2011 began with a previously unannounced Tag Team Championship match, but was dominated by the contest for the WWE Championship. The Miz faced John Morrison and John Cena in his effort to retain the belt, but ultimately fell short and lost to Cena.
After a segment about the premiere of the WWE feature film That’s What I Am, Alex Riley talked to The Miz backstage. He said that The Miz would be able to get an immediate rematch if he lost, and The Miz was clearly unhappy with his insubordination.

Kane and The Big Show vs. Wade Barrett and Ezekiel Jackson

Instead of Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel facing Kane and The Big Show to regain the Tag Team Championship, their Corre teammates Wade Barrett and Ezekiel Jackson took on the current champions in a lumberjack match.
The Big Show started the match against Barrett, and both he and Kane easily dominated their opponent. When Jackson tagged in, he gained the advantage and pummeled Kane, but Barrett soon lost that advantage.
Jackson tagged in and threw The Big Show through the ropes, and it took several of the lumberjacks to throw him back in. When Barrett tagged back in, he was unable to execute the Wasteland, and The Big Show chokeslammed him.
The Big Show pinned Barrett and won the match. Jackson glared at his teammate, clearly infuriated, and a brawl broke out among the lumberjacks. The Big Show and Kane chokeslammed Slater and Gabriel and then walked away from the ring.

John Cena vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz

The night’s main event was a triple threat steel cage match for the WWE Championship. The Miz tried to climb the cage early, but Morrison and Cena stopped him and worked together to slam him to the mat. Morrison then went to work on Cena, but The Miz halted his momentum with a clothesline.
The Miz slammed Morrison's head into the cage, then did the same to Cena. But Cena reversed his second attempt at an offensive and regained control. The Miz tried to climb out of the cage and Morrison stopped him, but soon ended up flat on the mat.
Cena and The Miz fought on the top rope, and Cena tossed The Miz from the corner. Morrison came back on the attack, and Cena took him down and used the Five Knuckle Shuffle. The Miz then used the Skull Crushing Finale on Cena, and Morrison tried to climb out of the cage.
The Miz gave chase, and the two men fought on the top of the cage. Cena climbed to the top rope, and he and Morrison pulled The Miz down. All three men ended up flat on their backs. Morrison was first to recover, but Cena pulled him from the top of the cage.
Morrison leapt from the top rope to take The Miz out, then flipped Cena over but failed to get the pin. The Miz kept Morrison from escaping and slammed him into the cage. Cena attacked The Miz from behind, and The Miz tried to get out of the cage door as Cena used a submission hold.
Neither man made it out, and Cena and Morrison were soon brawling atop the cage again. The Miz once again went for the door and Morrison slammed it into his head with a kick. The Miz pulled Morrison back into the cage. Cena took Morrison down, and The Miz went on the attack against Cena.
Morrison took advantage and climbed the cage again. The Miz went after him and they slugged it out atop the cage. The Miz tried to escape but Morrison pulled him back in. Cena went after Morrison, but Morrison used the Starship Pain to take out both his opponents.
Morrison tried to leave, but R-Truth appeared and shoved him back in. He entered the cage and attacked Morrison relentlessly. In a symbolic gesture, he climbed the cage and exited by way of the roof, as though he had actually won the match.
The Miz rose to his feet and climbed the cage. Cena followed and caught him. After more brawling, The Miz tried for a Skull Crushing Finale from the top rope. Instead, Cena reversed it and landed the Attitude Adjustment. He pinned The Miz and won the match.
