The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

A red-band trailer of the American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was leaked on YouTube Saturday.
It looks like the trailer was filmed in a European theater.
However, The Hollywood Reporter speculates that Sony may have leaked the trailer to provoke buzz about the movie.
Gregg Kilday gives a pretty convincing argument. First of all, the trailer is preceded by an MPAA red band deeming it appropriate only for mature audiences, which has no reason to appear in Europe as the MPAA is an American Association.
Secondly, although shaky at first, the camera version is actually pretty good with decent sound. No background noise can be discerned.
The stunt would also fit the personality of the main character of the series, computer hacker Lisbeth Salander.
Sony has yet to remove the trailer from YouTube.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is directed by David Fincher (The Social Network, Fight Club), and stars Rooney Mara (The Social Network, Youth in Revolt) and Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace).
The original films are Swedish and stream on Netflix. They are based on the popular book series by Stieg Larsson.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is set for release in December 2011.
