StarWars

You may know 4 May as the day Margaret Thatcher became the UK's first female prime minister, as the anniversary of the Grammy Awards, or even as the birthday of Audrey Hepburn.
ou probably didn't know that it is fast becoming recognised as International Star Wars Day by sci-fi fans across the world.
Aficionados of the George Lucas blockbusters have twisted the famous quote "May the force be with you," into "May the 4th be with you" as they take the opportunity to celebrate all things long ago and far far away.
And Northern Ireland is no exception, as the Limelight complex in Belfast has arranged a weekend of Star Wars-themed events to mark the occasion.
Lost in translation
It may come as a surprise to fans of the series, who will know that 25 May, the anniversary of the franchise's premiere in 1977, is a more officially recognised date.
However, it appears that the origin of this particular holiday is down to a gaffe by German news channel N24 in 2005.
During an interview with Mr Lucas, the network's translator misunderstood the famous quote, and mistakenly rendered it as "May the 4th be with you".
This was subsequently picked up on by numerous comedy review shows, and has spiralled into a hugely popular international event.
Social network sites are buzzing with enthusiasm, and Star Wars Day has become one of the top "trending topics" on Twitter as millions join in the fun.
Belfast strikes backIt was an occasion too tempting for Belfast's Limelight to miss.
On Tuesday night, the popular student event Shag went intergalactic, offering prizes for the best Star Wars costume in an attempt to attract fans.
Sabrina Egerton, events organiser at the Limelight, said the event was well attended by a host of alien life.
"We had one Darth Vader, a few C3P0s and lots of Princess Leias. There were a good few light sabre fights going on," she said.
On Wednesday, the sci-fi fun continues at the Limelight, as they are opening their doors free of charge for a screening of all three of the original Star Wars films.
Ms Egerton is hopeful that the low-key event will be just as successful as Tuesday night's party.
"We're open for anyone who wants to come and watch the legend that is Star Wars," she said.
"Maybe we'll do more in future. It's great to know there are still geeks out there."
So now you know. And as the event continues to gather momentum internationally, you can be ready to release your inner Jedi next year. May the 4th be with you.
