Initially as a weather forecast for New Year's Day out, addressed each came with an interest in the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic a bit of anger at the mother nature. But as it turns out that the rain can be a blessing.
The NHL has changed the start time from 13.00 bis 20.00 clock clock Saturday Winter Classic and helped the players return to their normal routine on game day.
"It's nice to be back on track and doing what we normally do," said Marc-Andre Fleury.
Both the Penguins and the Capitals went to Consol Energy Center on Saturday morning from a typical session of skating before they moved into Heinz Field, after a lunch break in the spotlight for the first time to play the Winter League Stars Classic.
"In a way, is scheduled to a later start for more normal," said head coach Dan Bylsma. "Children their normal diet at home and rest, the next title in the normal time have."
"We are in a very typical routine here," said Sidney Crosby.
The whole team benefits from the weather.
"It is not to change course now we know how to prepare these days," Pascal Dupuissaid.
But the fact is that the team is sold in an NFL stadium under the lights Saturday evening to play. No matter what the routine, the game is unlike any other.
"We play in front of 65,000 people outside," said Kris Letang. "This is not a normal game."
And since they can not control the weather, the players are just itching to estimate the probability.
"It adds another element, a game under the lights," said Chris Kunitz. "For the first time they played that night, so I really can not all have the experience for him. The NHL has to make a great mentality to a backup plan."
"It's like in the office, outside of fiction when you're young, wait" until your mother calls you and stay there, "said Dupuy." So, what do you want out there to play under the lights. "
Sidney Crosby - peaceful and serene as always - trying to focus on the game.
"It is a different look under the lights and everything, but I do not think it's a big problem," he said.
But understand, no doubt, the magnitude of the events of Saturday.
"I think, is in no way a great event - if you are in one, five or eight years," said Crosby. "It's just a different look."
