Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow has provided insight into post-natal depression she experienced following the birth of her second baby.
The revelation comes from a recent interview with Good Housekeeping magazine, in which the 38 year-old star said that she felt like a ‘zombie’ whilst she struggled to recover after the 2006 birth of Moses, her second son. She said she felt even worse because she had felt perfectly normal after giving birth to her first child, daughter Apple, in 2004.
Paltrow said that during the dark period she was unable to access her emotions and simply couldn’t connect with her heart. She said this came despite felling as if she were on ‘cloud 9’ after giving birth to Apple just two years earlier.
The actress, who is the wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, said that like many post-natal depression sufferers she was unable to recognise and accept the symptoms associated with the condition.
She said of the disease, which affects as much as a quarter of all new mothers via a hormonal imbalance, that its incredibly debilitating and one simply doesn’t feel like their self. She said it can be difficult to recognise and this is why it’s very important that women talk about it.
