The Indian arm of the Japanese auto giant Nissan, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL), on Thursday unveiled its premium car in the mid-size segment.
Brightly termed the Nissan 'Sunny', the car is expected to hit market in October. The car is also available 1.5 litre petrol version.
"The unveiling of the iconic Nissan Sunny reinstates our seriousness on business operations in India. It reiterates that we are as per schedule on our Indian plans including future product launches," said Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD & CEO, of Nissan Motor India.
"Nissan Sunny highlights the versatility of the global V- platform that allows us to benchmark ourselves with novel design features for the mid-size segment."
Speaking to ITGD, Ashok Mehta, a car financer, said, "Sunny offers buyers with yet another option in the mid-car segment and considering that it comes for a renowned auto maker like Nissan, it is definitely bound to pick up."
However Mehta added, "The most important factor with regards to Nissan Sunny would be its pricing. I am sure the company will definitely make it competitive."
Amit Aggarwal, a busy said, "Certainly, I would definitely go for it and since it comes for Nissan, it would be worth it."
"I like the it's name Sunny," said Akrati told another buyer to ITGD.
Designed at Nissan Design and Nissan Motor Co Ltd headquarters in Japan, Sunny made its global debut at the 8th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition in December 2010.
The petrol variant of the car will be manufactured at the Renault Nissan alliance Orgadam facility in Chennai.
