An earthquake of magnitude 7.0 struck a rural area in northern Argentina last week, but its epicenter was so deep that was just a jolt of light in the neighboring cities.
U.S. Geological Survey said on Saturday that the quake, initially reported at 6.9, at 6:56 about 150 kilometers (115 miles) (occurred 350 miles) north of Santiago del Estero, at a depth of 563 kilometers.
It was not immediately clear if there were no injuries or damage, but the quake almost in Santiago del Estero, the provincial capital, felt, where Emilio Abdala, a receptionist at the 14-story Casino Hotel Carlos V, told The Associated Press that no one to feel something.
