Even if some people say, "Well, the Republicans should have done this or they should have done that," they will hold the president responsible. Now I don't want to even have to be associated with him. It's like touching a tar baby and you get, you get it, you know ... you are stuck and you are part of the problem now and you can't get away.
Today, he's apologizing to the President for using the racial epithet. Instead, he claims, he meant to say "quagmire." Rrrright. Yes, because "touching a tar baby" is exactly the same thing as saying "quagmire." What a joke.
Honestly, I just LOVE "gaffes" like these.
Because they do nothing but expose various Republicans' attitudes about Obama ever since he ran for the office. I'm reminded of something Bill Maher once said:
They can’t say [the N-word] out loud. ... It’s all about racism. They cannot fathom this idea that there is a Black President. And that’s what they are going to fight about.
Lamborn and some other not-so-closeted racist Republicans just want SO badly to say the N-word. It's been on the tip of their tongues since 2008. But they can't, and so they dance around it, use other, basically just as bad expressions like "TAR BABY," and then think they can get away with a half-hearted apologetic statement almost a week later!
Lamborn is a coward. I would just LOVE to see him use that term out on the street, or even when giving a speech to his constituents. It's easy to use disgusting, loaded, blatantly racist terms when you're hiding behind a microphone on some ridiculous right-wing radio show, isn't it? Maybe it would be better if they all came out and said what they really wanted to say, just get it over with, so we could get past it, you know? Maybe then, our government wouldn't be dragged down by a constant undercurrent of racism ... by politicians who aren't so secretly hell-bent on hate.
