Steris Corp. has launched a new online continuing education portal, called Steris University, with courses, presentations, study guides and learning resources for perioperative staff, infection preventionists, sterile processing personnel and other healthcare professionals.
"Steris University can be considered a 'knowledge factory' for key process, science and safety fundamentals that healthcare professionals and providers need," says Bob Straub, Steris University co-chair and learning and development manager, in a press release announcing the launch.
One of the most unique features of the program is its Academic Advisory Board made up of leaders in academia, clinical engineering, accreditation, government and military, gastroenterology, infection control, perioperative services and sterile processing. These "independent industry experts and thought leaders" will "continually evaluate the curriculum to help maintain its quality and relevance," says Steris University Co-chair Richard Schule, director of clinical education for Steris.
A "living site," Steris University will "continue to expand its capabilities and educational offerings," says the company. For now, the online portal features:
"the largest catalogue to date of Steris' highly flexible adult learning opportunities";
"a large portfolio of 100-level foundational courses that focus on the science and processes behind healthcare technologies"; and
"a quality management system for all educational offerings that emphasizes a sequential process approach to learning and evaluation of performance."
